CHICAGO, IL – After a five-week, non-stop campaign to collect 25,000 signatures, Scott Lee Cohen, the Independent candidate for Governor of Illinois, proudly announced today that his campaign has collected more than 130,000 signatures.

Pointing to his large stack of petitions Cohen said, “This represents a lot of hard work by a lot of very dedicated people who are determined to get my name on the November ballot.”

When asked how difficult it was to get voters to sign his petitions, Cohen responded, “It was not difficult at all. Voters were very anxious to sign my petitions and I believe they will be just as eager to vote for me in November.”

Throughout the past five weeks, Cohen was the first to criticize the disparity faced by independent candidates who are forced to collect five-times as many petition signatures as established political parties and their candidates. He also was the first to describe the disparity as nothing less than “a powerful incumbent protection plan.”

Cohen emphasized the disparity by standing next to a cutout of Governor Pat Quinn with a small stack of just 5,000 signatures compared to Cohen’s hefty stack of more than 130,000 signatures. “Why should an independent candidate, like me, have to come up with five-times as many signatures? It’s just not fair.”

Cohen says he also expects Governor Quinn and his team of lawyers to challenge his petitions. Cohen noted, “I believe that the Governor and other career politicians will do all they can to limit the choice of candidates that voters have by trying to knock me off the ballot.”

Cohen will file his petitions with the Illinois State Board of Elections in Springfield at 3:30p.m on Monday afternoon.

Would you know what to do if you or a loved one suddenly became ill all of a sudden, or injured while doing something like playing in the yard or riding their bike? Do you think that you would know what to do if you were in the position of having to make an quick decision as to what to do and where to go with that individual that was injured or ill? If you think that you would just go to the local hospital’s emergency room because that is the only thing you can think of, it is a good thing that you have some time to make an actual plan that will not make you and the injured or ill party more miserable than they have to be.

Going to the ER is one of the least enjoyable experiences you can have. Because it is so overcrowded and so understaffed, you will probably have to wait over an hour, and realistically, more like three hours, to be seen by a doctor or healthcare professional. That is why so many people have found that there are alternatives, like Immediate Care Chicago facilities, that specialize in just the same things as the ER, only much better, and they do it for far less expensive rates.

The advantages of going to a place like the Immediate Care Chicago facilities are easy to understand once you go there and visit and see for your self. Because the facility is smaller than that of the ER, you will be seen by a doctor much more quickly. And because it is smaller, they can keep their operating costs down to price their services at much more reasonable rates. So make a plan that you can stick to and go to a place that does a great job.

Liver Cleanse – Is It the Diet for You?

What is a liver cleanse diet and why would you want to do one? I’m sure you’ve seen many websites and even TV commercials advertising cleansing and detox diets – so what are the supposed benefits, what can be gained from them, and are there any risks to these diets? The aim is, of course, to rid ourselves of toxins that are harmful to us and are unnatural to ingest into our bodies. Does this liver cleanse diet succeed in making us healthier? Let’s take a look.

First of all, your liver’s job is to promote detoxification from your body. This is why alcoholics often die of cirrhosis of the liver – meaning that the liver has become so damaged by all of the toxins that it no longer functions properly and essentially turns into a brick inside of your body. Once the liver stops working, you die, since your body can no longer turn harmful chemicals and toxins away from your bloodstream. However, doing a “flush” or “cleanse” diet may not be helpful for the reasons that you think it is.

While your opinion on these diets depends largely on where you stand on homeopathic medicine and treatments, cleanse diets can be unintentionally helpful. While many cleanse sites and companies recommend drinking certain amounts of salt, juice, or other natural liquids, the biggest benefit of a cleanse diet is the increase in water intake, the decrease in caffeine and alcohol, the less fatty protein intake, and the less intake of processed food. These factors combined will always, from a medical perspective, make you healthier than the “average American” diet.

Fruits and vegetables can be natural salves for our digestive system by aiding our bodies in ridding themselves of harmful toxins and wastes. Before doing a cleanse or flush diet, consult your doctor to make sure what you are doing is safe for your body!
